The Bermuda Society was incorporated in England in 1987 under the
Companies Act 1985 as a private company limited by guarantee. Its primary
object, as a Society admitting members by subscription and administered by
an elected committee of management, is to promote and advance Bermuda's
image as a first-class offshore business and financial services
jurisdiction and to foster the close and valuable liaison between Bermuda,
the United Kingdom and elsewhere, particularly in the areas of finance,
commerce and economics.
The Society is a prestigious, responsible
and responsive organisation and maintains strong links with the British
Parliament, with figures in the City of London, tourism, air
transportation, the professions, insurance, reinsurance and banking as
well as with those who have or have done business with or have worked in
Bermuda.
The Society's membership reflects a high level of
interest and influence, and covers a wide range of involvement.
